I quit my job and moved to New Brunswick for the month of May 2007. In that time I did 15 paintings that looked something like these. It was remarkably easy to be productive while staying at Nicole Legault's studio, as it was situated between the ocean and the forest.
While making these I was considering place a lot (obviously?). That month in Moncton really made me feel some things I hadn't expected to. Mostly, that the 17 years I had previously spent in NB were somehow trumped by only a few in Toronto. Moncton really wasn't my home in any respect anymore.
I mostly like these paintings now because it was the beginning of me being OK with listing Looney Tunes as a major influence of mine.
